As a high school student, Terry volunteered at Rest Haven during the summer of 1969. It was an experience that would change the direction of her life. After completing high school she worked at Gospel Folio Press and a local hospital. After becoming a nurse, the Lord led her back to Rest Haven to work full time in 1981. She tells us there is not a job description she has not done and jokingly adds: "I didn't say I did them well -- especially cooking"

While Terry's main responsibility is our finances, don't be surprised to find her diagnosing computer problems, adding more features to our databases, or doing clean up after some big event. She's Rest Haven's resident historian and is always looking for more information. If you have a piece of our history, don't assume she already has it but send it to her. Terry has served three generations of one family. When we come up with an idea to remodel, she is usually the one that can tell us how many inches or feet we need in order to comply with the many State regulations. She thrives on details.

Terry has a passion for senior-care and in her spare time you may find her researching another type of dementia or hunting for materials that will help families and staff understand and cope with the effect it has on an individual and family. She has written several articles on serving the aged from a Christian perspective and has studied the references to aging in the Bible.

When she's not at work, Terry enjoys tinkering with mechanical things, playing guitar, crossword puzzles and playing hostess to Mister Muggins, the world's crankiest cat.

Nona Fitzhugh is originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan where she was raised in a Godly Christian home. Following high school, she attended The Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music where she met her husband Mike.  Nona has been happily married to Mike since August of 1973. They make their home just outside of Sparta, Michigan.

Nona has been blessed with two loving children (Joy & Josh), and six wonderful grandchildren.  When she can, Nona enjoys traveling with Mike when he is preaching and teaching at various assemblies and conferences. From time to time, she also shares and assists him in his counseling ministry. Nona's favorite place to travel is Ireland, where her son Josh is living.

Nona has enjoyed serving at Rest Haven since January of 1998. She first worked as a certified nurse aide for almost eight years. Since May of 2005 she has enjoyed the challenge of managing and directing the food and dietary services at the home. Prior to coming to Rest Haven Nona was a housewife, mother, and home school teacher. She also has worked as a bank teller, secretary, and apartment complex manager.

Since coming to Rest Haven Nona has completed a Dietary Manager course from Auburn University and is a Certified Dietary Manager and Certified Food Protection Professional. Throughout the year she also attends continuing education classes related to her field.  Nona attributes any success in her job at Rest Haven to the Lord first, and also to a wonderful, hard working staff of employees. 

Nona loves serving the Lord and the residents at Rest Haven. She recalls in the very beginning (1998) of her service at Rest Haven, her daughter, Joy (who was working at Rest Haven at the time) telling her, "You will not be happy working at any other nursing home."  Having now served at RHH for nearly 13 years, Nona wholeheartedly agrees!

Ruth Johnston wears many hats at Rest Haven!  She is our Activity Director, Event Coordinator and Social Services Coordinator.  

When not at Rest Haven, Ruth enjoys being the favorite auntie to her nieces and nephews and also participating in triathlons, biking and running.

Laura Kasperski is our Director of Nursing with a passion for both critical care and geriatrics.  

She is married to Jeff Kasperski and together they have three wonderful children. Affectionately, Laura is known as the Craig's List Queen because she loves to hunt there for good deals.

Camille Lieffers has worked at of Rest Haven since 1995. She has been married to her husband, Terry for 35 years and was a "carpenters helper" for several years. She became a stay-at-home mom when her first daughter, Laura, was born and several years later Alice joined their family. Laura started working at Rest Haven when she was 14 and stayed for 5 years and when she left Camille came on board. Laura came back many years later and is now the Director of Nursing. Alice enjoys her volunteer time, especially helping with the ice cream social. Terry has done some remodeling at Rest Haven and is also one of our volunteers.

Camille heads up the Housekeeping, Laundry and Maintenance Departments. Camille says "I feel privileged to be part of such a wonderful family as Rest Haven. I have learned so much during my years here and feel blessed each day I spend with these Residents."

In her spare time she loves spending time with her 3 grandchildren who live down the street. She enjoys working in her perennial garden and go geocaching with her family. She also belongs to a woman's knitting group that meets once a month.

As a grade school student, Ric attended services in many nursing homes in Grandville Michigan with his father in church ministry. Many years later he married his wife Elizabeth who has her own practice as a geriatric nurse practitioner. In recent years Ric spent many hours with his mother who passed away from cancer, mother-in-law who was an Alzheimer's patient for 15 years, and a father-in-law who passed away from cancer. Ric was honored to perform the memorial services for his mother-in-law and father-in-law. All of these experiences served to reignite Ric's interest in working with the elderly community.

Ric is married to Elizabeth and together they have two daughters, Amber and Tegan. Though Ric lived in Colorado, Indiana, and Tennessee for approximately 20 years he returned to Michigan in 2000. He and his family love living near Lake Michigan on the north side of Holland.

Ric's background is two fold. While working over the last 30 years in various manufacturing, distribution and publishing industries, he was also involved in youth ministry in a variety of settings. The last 10 years Ric has moved from youth to adult men's ministry. Ric enjoys spending time with Elizabeth relaxing at home with their daughters, playing music together (Ric on guitar and Liz on flute), and taking in a good sunset at the beach.

Ric's goals for Rest Haven are to support the residents by hiring and contributing to the training of team members who live out the mission of ...By Love Serve One Another...

Brian Wilson has served at Rest Haven since 1996, and as Administrator since 1999.  Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his four children and competing in triathlons.  Of his role at Rest Haven he says, "My work at Rest Haven is very rewarding.  I love what I do, serving the residents and their families and investing in the lives of our great team members.  The best part of my job is working for so many Godly seniors.  Every day is an opportunity to be taught and inspired by folks who are wonderful examples of faithfulness."

Brian's role as Administrator encompasses not only directing the home and overseeing the overall operation of Rest Haven, but also marketing, giving tours and problem solving when things aren't quite right.  He completed his nursing home administrator's training at the Eli Broad College of Business.  Prior to coming to Michigan, Brian completed his practical nurse training at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa.  He worked as a charge nurse in Iowa and Michigan until the Lord brought him to Grand Rapids to join the Rest Haven family.

Brian grew up in Africa as the son of missionary parents.  He finds that the cultural exposure provides a unique perspective on bringing people together from divergent points of view to create win-win solutions.
